Larry Hogan

Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Hogan, Jr. (born May 25, 1956) is an American politician who currently serves as the 62nd Governor of Maryland, in office since January 2015. A Republican, he was the founder and president of Hogan Companies, a commercial real estate brokerage firm. Hogan took leave of his business in 2003 to serve as Secretary of Appointments in the Bob Ehrlich administration. In 2011, Hogan founded the grassroots organization Change Maryland. In 2014, Hogan announced his candidacy for Governor of Maryland, and won the 2014 race.
On June 22, 2015, Hogan announced to the press that he has been diagnosed with an advanced and aggressive form of lymph node cancer. As announced five months later on November 16, 2015, intensive chemotherapy had put the disease into remission.〔
==Early life and education==
Hogan was born in 1956 in Washington, D.C.. Hogan's father, Lawrence Hogan, Sr., served as a U.S. Congressman from Maryland's 5th Congressional District from 1969 to 1975 and as Prince George's County Executive from 1978 to 1982. Hogan grew up in Landover, Maryland attending Saint Ambrose Catholic School and ran a daily newspaper delivery route there when he was ten years old.〔 Hogan attended DeMatha Catholic High School, where he was student manager of the varsity basketball team.〔 After his parents divorced in 1972, Hogan moved to Florida with his mother and attended Father Lopez Catholic High School where he graduated in 1974.
Hogan attended Florida State University from 1974 to 1978 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in government and political science.〔 While in college, Hogan worked for minority leader in the Florida House Tom Lewis and upon graduation, worked for California congressman John Rousselot on Capitol Hill. Hogan helped his father run a successful campaign in 1978 for Prince George's County Executive and later worked for his father in Upper Marlboro as a low-paid 'intergovernmental liaison'.〔 He then became involved with Republican youth groups and was a volunteer in Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign when he met Bob Ehrlich.〔
